WorkMode HQ is an independent publication about the equipment people use to work from home. We cover desks, seating, displays, input devices, audio and video kit, lighting and storage, and we write for a UK audience.
Our mission
Home office equipment is an unusually difficult thing to buy well. The products are expensive, the differences between them are hard to judge from a listing, and most of the advice available online is a rewritten specification sheet with an affiliate link attached.
We exist to help people spend the right amount on the right things, and to be equally clear about where the differences between products stop mattering. Sometimes the honest answer is that the cheaper option is fine.
Our editorial philosophy
We would rather publish fewer articles that hold up than more that do not. Three principles shape everything on this site.
- Say what we actually know. Every review states whether it is based on hands-on use or on research. We do not describe a product as tested unless we have used it.
- Recommend for a person, not in the abstract. A chair that suits a 6ft 4in user at a desk all day is not the same chair that suits someone working two days a week at a kitchen table. We say which is which.
- Be willing to say no. If nothing in a category is worth buying at a given price, we say so rather than filling the slot.
How we research and assess products is set out in full in our Methodology.
Who this site is for
WorkMode HQ is written for people setting up or improving a workspace at home. That includes those buying their first proper desk and chair, remote workers trying to solve a specific problem such as back pain or poor video call quality, and people upgrading equipment that has stopped being good enough.
It is not written for office procurement teams or for people chasing the highest-specification product regardless of need.
Our commitment to accuracy
We correct errors promptly and visibly. Factual corrections are noted at the foot of the article with the date and a short description of what changed, and where a correction materially changes a recommendation we say so at the top as well. We do not quietly edit claims out of existence.
Buying guides are reviewed at least quarterly. Reviews are revisited annually, or sooner if a product is discontinued or substantially revised. Updated articles carry the date they were last reviewed, not merely the date they were first published.
How we are funded
WorkMode HQ earns revenue through affiliate links. If you buy something after following one of our links, we may receive a commission from the retailer. The price you pay is unaffected.
Affiliate relationships do not influence what we cover, what we conclude, or the order in which products appear. Retailers and manufacturers have no input into our content and no advance sight of it. Our full Affiliate Disclosure explains this in detail.
